Netflix Picks: June 2016

BEST BET – FILM
Spotlight (2015) – 6/22
This year’s Best Picture winner is a knockout, with a stellar cast that, for most of its runtime, steers away from grandstanding and focuses on the victims of this unspeakable tragedy and the journalists who exposed it.

BEST BET – TV
Orange is the New Black (Season 4) – 6/17
Season 3 was a bit of step down from the high of Season Two. I think part of the reason is having 12 episodes plus a 90-minute finale makes it a little too bloated. That and the absence of Vee kept it from being focused. Still, it was gripping television and I think Season Four will be even darker than it has been, but hopefully will find its footing once again and tell intimate stories about these amazing women.
