Movie of the Week
Chappie
Neill Blomkamp’s movies tend to go off the rail in the third act, but he’s got such a singular vision that I’m willing to forgive a lot. (Yes, I’m an Elysium apologist.) This one features a foul-mouthed robot cop, Hugh Jackman with a mullet AND a cameo by crazy South African rap group Die Antwoord.

Believe Me
One of my favorite movies of last year is this comedy that gives Christian films a good name again. It’s well-acted and well-shot (giving it two distinct advantages already), with a sharp script that doesn’t water down its message.
