Netflix Picks: May 2016

BEST BET – FILM
Pleasantville (1998) – 5/1
Gary Ross’s beautiful dramedy holds up over the years, thanks to its fantastical premise and terrific use of contrasting color. Only actors deeply committed to the emotion behind the story could make it so memorable nearly 20 years later.

BEST BET – TV
Grace and Frankie (Season 2) – 5/6
The first season wasn’t a knockout, but it was a pleasant series that took the framework of the sitcom and – when it felt like it – pushed it to some unexpected places. I’m hoping everyone involved challenges themselves more often in Season Two.
