What I Watched This Week: 10 May 2015

NEW SHOWS
Brooklyn Nine-Nine – “The Chopper” (A-)
Like Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons, any time Wunch appears, you know you’re in for a good time. The B story about the field trip didn’t do much for me, but teaming up Boyle, Peralta and Capt. Holt (aka “Velvet Thunder”) was a glorious sight to behold.

Community – “Basic RV Repair & Palmistry” (C+)
The first, and hopefully only, dud of the season. I get what they were trying to do, but it was too meta for its own good. As Jeff said to Abed, “Get your head out of your ass!” Still, there were plenty of laughs to be had, especially from Keith David and Paget Brewster, who have been the best additions to the cast since the great attrition of Season Four.

Louie – “Sleepover” (A)
There are lots of scary things in life: death, separation, divorce, jail. But this episode of Louie hilariously proves that there’s nothing more terrifying than being in charge of 8 to 12 little girls at a sleepover. There have been sharper and funnier episodes so far this season, but this might have been my favorite.
