One of my favorite films of 2016 thus far isn’t for everyone. In fact, it’s not for most people. You have to be on its sadistic, pitch-black comic wavelength. I was, and found myself mesmerized, even as I was frustrated.

I also slept on Marvel’s Defenders series thus far – both season of Daredevil and the lone season of Jessica Jones – but this might be the first that I can’t make any excuses for. Filled with righteous fury and propelled by a hip-hop soundtrack, I’ll have to make time for Mike Colter’s indestructible antihero.
