Netflix Picks: February 2016

BEST BET – FILM
I Love You Philip Morris (2009) – 2/3
Looking for an off-beat love story this Valentine’s Day? Look no further than this gay romance that features one of Jim Carrey’s best performances. It’s not nearly as explicit as its reputation suggests, but it’s certainly not a PG-13 rom-com. It’s a clever if slightly tragic film that deserves to be seen by more people.

BEST BET – TV
Better Call Saul (Season 1) – 2/1
AMC’s Breaking Bad spin-off is better than it has any right to be. It also finally gives a bigger showcase for the superb acting chops of Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill, the small-time crook who has yet to become the swaggering attorney Jimmy McGill. Season One will be up in its entirety and Netflix just announced that starting with Season Two, you can watch each episode the day after it airs.
