What I Watched This Week: 16 Nov 2014

NEW SHOWS The Newsroom – “Run” (A) I could make a strong case that this is the best episode the show has turned out thus far. Sorkin crams this episode with lots and lots of story, but makes every moment … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 9 Nov 2014

NEW SHOWS The Simpsons – “Simpsorama” (C+) Can’t say it’s any better or worse than that Family Guy crossover, but I did chuckle a few times. This episode seemed to be self-aware of how desperate it seemed. I probably would … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 2 Nov 2014

NEW SHOWS Brooklyn Nine-Nine – “The Mole” (B+) A good episode, but one that doesn’t reach for the highest heights. Still, I would watch an entire bottle episode of Holt and Peralta in his lounge in their pajamas, solving cases. … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 26 Oct 2014

NEW SHOWS Eff you, baseball! CURRENT SHOWS Saturday Night Live – “Jim Carrey/Iggy Azalea” (B-) Despite Jim Carrey giving it his all, this definitely fell flat more often than it succeeded. But it failed by doing a lot of high-concept … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 19 Oct 2014

NEW SHOWS The Simpsons – “Treehouse of Horror XXV” (B+) A surprisingly solid entry. I found plenty to like in all three segments, particularly the first one’s vision of Hell as a school where Bart can actually succeed, but still … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 12 Oct 2014

NEW SHOWS Brooklyn Nine-Nine – “The Jimmy Jab Games” (A-) For better or worse, this is the heir apparent to The Office, with its consistently great ensemble cast, sweet little romances and the workplace’s own mythology. But I like this … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 5 Oct 2014

Between moving and being without internet for the week (because of the aforementioned moving), I wasn’t able to catch any of the new shows. Better luck next week. OLD SHOWS The Simpsons (Season 8) – “Treehouse of Horror VII” (A) … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 28 Sept 2014

NEW SHOWS The Simpsons – “Clown in the Dumps” (B) / season premiere Yeah, Krusty’s dad died. Big whoop. Though Lisa’s increased attention to Homer is sweet, it’s not very well executed. The Jewish Heaven and depressed comedian stuff is much better, … Continue reading →

What I Watched This Week: 21 Sept 2014

And so begins another fall season. My erratic schedule these next couple months may prevent me from checking out all the shows I want to, but I’ll at least post something here each week. (Also, Hulu and Comedy Central: get … Continue reading →
